Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has made a controversial statement reflecting the ongoing political tensions within the state, stating that there’s a rat eating the support from the Federal Government.
Fubara, who has been vocal about the challenges facing his administration, remarked, “If we are fighting Federal Government it’s a different matter. We are talking about the Federal Government that is giving us support but the rat in the house that is eating the bag of garri…So, you can imagine such situation. Whence, we’ve already set the ota piapia to finish them.”
This statement comes amidst a backdrop of political crises that have seen Governor Fubara taking decisive actions. He has expressed his readiness to make tough decisions, even if they may hurt individuals, for the greater good of the state.
The governor’s commitment to addressing the state’s issues is further evidenced by his recent announcement to set up a panel of inquiry into the governance of the state.
The inquiry panel is expected to probe into the governance affairs during the tenure of his predecessor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. This move is seen as the latest development in the deepening feud between Governor Fubara and the state House of Assembly, which has been marked by a series of confrontations and legislative changes.
Governor Fubara’s administration has been marked by a determination to resolve the state’s debt issues and navigate the political turmoil.
