President Bola Tinubu brokered a truce to end the political crises between the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike.
This was achieved during a meeting, which was chaired by President Tinubu at the state house in Abuja.
According to Channels, the meeting had in attendance Peter Odili and other stakeholders at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.
It comes following several weeks of conflict between Fubara and his predecessor, now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Premium Politics reported that the political turmoil in Rivers State escalated to the demolition of the previously burned state House of Assembly complex. Simultaneously, security personnel reportedly barricaded the assembly entrance.
In a communique obtained by Premium Politics, it resolved that “all impeachment proceedings initiated against the Governor of Rivers State by the Rivers State House of Assembly should be dropped immediately. ”
Also, it was recommended that Fubara is expected to re-present the state budget to the Rivers State House of Assembly led by Amaewhule.
