The Rivers State Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, has announced major administrative appointments, naming Dr. Iyingi Brown as the acting Head of Service and Professor Ibibia Worika as the new Secretary to the State Government.
In an early morning announcement on Tuesday, the Administrator confirmed: Dr. Iyingi Brown’s appointment as acting HoS, transitioning from his previous role as Permanent Secretary for Welfare in the Office of the Head of Service. The resignation of former HoS Dr. George Nwaeke, which Ibas described as “saddening.”
“I appreciate Nwaeke’s immense contributions to this administration and wish him well in his future endeavors,” Ibas stated, while assuring residents of his commitment to “neutrality, peace and stability” during the transition period.
In a separate statement issued in Port Harcourt, the Administrator announced the appointment of Professor Ibibia Worika as SSG, effective immediately.
“After careful consideration of his credentials, extensive experience and performance during a rigorous selection process, Professor Worika emerged as the ideal candidate,” Ibas said.
The Administrator highlighted Worika’s distinguished career spanning: Academia; International legal practice; High-level policy advisory roles.
“This unique blend of qualifications positions him to support our administration in achieving President Bola Tinubu’s mandate for Rivers State,” Ibas added.
Dr. Brown will serve as acting HoS until a substantive appointment is made, while Prof. Worika assumes SSG duties immediately.
