Senator Shehu Sani has made a startling allegation that the recent protests in Kano, Zamfara, and Kaduna states, where protesters were seen flying Russian flags and calling for military rule, were part of a plot to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s government.
Speaking on Channels Television’s program on Tuesday, Sani claimed that money and Russian flags were distributed to youths a day before the protest, indicating a larger scheme to create an atmosphere conducive to a government overthrow.
Sani, a former activist-turned-politician, stated that the protests were not solely about government policies but rather a deliberate attempt to create chaos and lawlessness, describing it as a “script for anarchy.”
He emphasized the need for individuals like himself to speak out against such alleged plots and ensure the stability of the government.
“A day before the last protest, money was shared to the youths, and Russian flags were also shared.
“That shows that the whole intent of the protest is not simply about the policies and programmes of the government.
“There was an attempt to create an atmosphere where there would be an overthrow of the government.
“When you have this kind of situation, you will see that someone is writing a script for anarchy, lawlessness, and disorder. It is incumbent for someone like us to speak,” the former activist-turned politician said.
