The upper chamber of the National Assembly enate has amended the 2022 Appropriation Act to extend the implementation period from December 2022 to March 2023.
The amendment, it said, is to ensure the implementation of key capital projects in the act which have not been funded as of this time, in order to prevent the problem of abandoned projects.
Channels TV reported that the Senate made this decision during its plenary session on Wednesday.
The Senate has also passed the N819.5 billion 2022 Supplementary Budget, following the call by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (Ret’d.), to expedite its passage.
The said budget is to address food security following recent ravaging floods across the country, as well as Damages to road infrastructure and water sector.
It is expected to be funded by additional borrowing and will increase the budget deficit to a total of 8.17 trillion naira.
The supplementary budget is for the ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources, FCT and Works.
