The senator representing Anambra South in the Nigerian Senate, Ifeanyi Ubah, has passed away due to cardiac arrest in London.
Sources confirmed that Ubah, who had recently defected to the All Progressives Congress, died on Saturday.
Ubah, who was elected Senator in 2019 on the platform of the Young Progressive Party and reelected in 2023, had been gearing up to contest the next governorship election in Anambra State, according to PMNews.
Although details surrounding his death are still sketchy, reports indicate that Ubah died in a London hotel, where he had arrived two days prior.
The Senate has yet to comment on Ubah’s passing.
His campaign council had recently donated N71 million to the APC in Anambra State, solidifying his commitment to the party.
Ubah’s death comes as a shock to his constituents and the political community, with many mourning the loss of a promising leader.
