Senator Shehu Sani has criticized former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, calling him a “midget professor” who is frustrated and jobless after being excluded from President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Sani’s remarks came after El-Rufai recently accused the Tinubu-led government of attempting to destroy opposition parties. In a post on his official X handle on Thursday, January 30, Sani dismissed El-Rufai’s criticism as hypocritical, highlighting that El-Rufai had engaged in oppressive tactics while in power. He noted that now out of office, El-Rufai was attempting to preach democracy in a country he had once helped to “wreck, plunder, and persecute.”
Sani further criticized El-Rufai for demonizing the opposition while in power, only to later align with them after losing influence. He also mocked El-Rufai’s claims that Nigeria is being led by illiterates, suggesting that the former governor’s frustration stemmed from being sidelined by the Tinubu administration.
Sani likened El-Rufai’s situation to a man who, after being rejected by a woman, speaks ill of her, pointing out that El-Rufai once praised Tinubu but now criticized him after being excluded. He also accused El-Rufai of seeking attention by stoking sectional sentiments, describing him as a “desperate” figure.
El-Rufai’s comments were made at a national conference in Abuja on Monday, where he described the state of governance and opposition in Nigeria as a “national emergency.” He also criticized the leadership for being filled with illiterates and semi-illiterates, which he argued contributed to the country’s poor leadership.
“Out of power, he is sanctimoniously preaching democracy to the country he helped to wreck, plundered, and persecuted.
“He demonized the opposition when in the palace and now embraces them in the wilderness,” Sani wrote.
” He is like a man who was turned down by a woman and then resorted to speaking ill of her. Tinubu was his angel until he was ‘evicted from the house’; now he tells the world Tinubu is a demon.
“The government is led by illiterates because they refused to hire professor midget,” Sani said.
Sani further described El-Rufai as a desperate figure now seeking attention by stoking sectional sentiments.
“He is now jobless, most times seeking to be invited to northern public events where he will whip up sectional sentiments,” Sani added.
El-Rufai made his comments on Monday at a national conference in Abuja focused on strengthening democracy in Nigeria. He criticized the ruling party, describing the state of governance and opposition in the country as a “national emergency.”
“You cannot afford to have illiterates, semi-illiterates, and cunning people as your leaders.
“This is why we end up with the poor leadership we have today,” El-Rufai stated at the event which had former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, in attendance.
