Vice President Kashim Shettima is set to depart Abuja for Sweden on a two-day visit, where he will represent Nigeria in bilateral engagements with the Scandinavian nation.
At the request of President Bola Tinubu, Shettima will engage in high-level talks with key Swedish officials, including a meeting with Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and the Swedish Prime Minister.
During his working visit, Shettima will focus on strengthening collaboration between Nigeria and Sweden across a range of sectors, such as ICT, innovation, education, digitalisation, sustainable transport, mining, and agriculture.
According to a statement issued by his spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha, the Vice President will also meet with important stakeholders in both the government and private sectors.
One of the key engagements on Shettima’s itinerary is a meeting with Norrsken, a Stockholm-based venture capital impact investor. Norrsken recently launched Norrsken22, a USD 205 million tech investment fund focused on Africa. The fund, which is backed by over 30 prominent unicorn founders, aims to support exceptional entrepreneurs working on building the continent’s next tech giants.
The meeting with Norrsken will offer valuable insights into how Nigerian entrepreneurs can benefit from this fund and further develop the country’s technology ecosystem. Notably, 40% of the investments from Norrsken22 are expected to be allocated to Nigerian technology entrepreneurs.
In addition, twelve Nigerian private sector companies engaged in business with Sweden will attend the meetings as part of a private sector bloc.
While in Sweden, Vice President Shettima will also take the opportunity to outline Nigeria’s economic vision and the ongoing reforms designed to create a more business-friendly environment for investors. He will showcase the abundant opportunities within Africa’s largest economy.
The Vice President is expected to return to Nigeria on Saturday, according to the statement.
