The Vice President, Kashim Shettima and other prominent Nigerians were present in Kano on Wednesday, as the remains of a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Ghali Na’Abba, were laid to rest.
The remains of Na’Abba which was flown into Kano from Abuja on Wednesday, were received by family members, friends and top government officials around 3 pm, at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport.
The corpse was then taken to the emir’s palace for a funeral prayer, led by the Chief Imam of Kano, Prof. Sani Zahradeen, at about 5:30 pm.
However, the remains of the late lawmaker, who died in the early hours of Wednesday in Abuja, after a protracted illness, were buried at Dandolo Cemetery, Goron-Dutse, Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State.
Among the prominent Nigerians who attended the funeral prayer were: the Vice President, Sen. Kashim Shettima; the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin; the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Aminu Abdulsalam; and the senator representing Kano South senatorial district, Abdulrahman Kawu-Sumaila.
Others who attended the burial were former governors of the state, Ibrahim Shekarau, Rabiu Kwankwaso and former governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido, as well as some members of the state and national assemblies.
