Shun blackmail, synergize to promote C’River – Speaker
The Speaker of Cross River State House of Assembly, Elvert Ayambem has urged politicians, technocrats and other critical stakeholders in the state to eschew blackmail and support the government for the progress of the state.
The Speaker made this disclosure in a ceremony in Calabar to honour the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar on Wednesday, adding partisan sentiments should be discarded to promote statehood and the betterment of Cross Riverians.
While calling for the spirit of brotherhood, Ayambem urged politicians in the state, especially members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, to commit to the common cause of improving the state.
He enjoined the younger generation to emulate the Chief of Staff and stressed on steadfastness and adherence to values and constituted authority.
“Hon Ironbar is a loyal man who has stood with the governor over the years and his appointment as the chief of staff is not out of place,” Ayambem stated.
Ayambem also said that Governor Bassey Otu-led administration is resolute in returning the state to its pride of place as a destination for business and leisure, hence his agenda of “The People First“.
