Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reacted to the trending fuel scarcity in parts of Nigeria, especially, Lagos, stating that it is too early to second-guess the Presidency.
Recall that, the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Monday, during his inaugural speech announced that fuel subsidy was gone and that it could no longer be justified.
Following his announcement, serious queues returned to filling stations across the nation as marketers hoard the product and sell at exorbitant prices.
Reacting to this on Tuesday during a tour of some ministries, PMNews reported that Sanwo-Olu said it was too early in the day for people to second-guess the president.
He said, “It is too early in the day for people to second guess the president on the issue of pronouncement, I think it is unfair on all of our major marketers to want to begin to seize the opportunity, we all need to be sincere in this country.
“If we really want to get things done, let us know that, yes, we might need to belt up a little bit, to have a better life down the line. There is nothing that has changed in that pronouncement that should have caused queues, but I am sure that the federal government that we have will be able to rise up to it and will be able to deal with it.
“So, I want to encourage all to be law-abiding and go about their normal business and things certainly will be better.”
The governor also thanked all Lagosians for turning out in the heavy rain to witness his swearing-in ceremony on Monday, while thanking God for everything as the inauguration went well.
“We have to be able to show Lagosians that we are ready for the job. We have gone round ministries and commission offices in Alausa. We went for assessment and to encourage staff and to see what the environment is and how we should ensure everybody is on board,” he said.
