He was accompanied by the APC National Chairman, Dr Umar Ganduje, and Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo. They were warmly received by Governor Ododo, his deputy Joel Oyibo, former governors Yahaya Bello and Idris Wada, along with commissioners and other top government officials.
Governor Ododo led the Vice President and his entourage to Lokoja, the state capital, where several infrastructure projects were commissioned amid cheers from an enthusiastic crowd. These projects included the Zone 8–Zango Daji–Kaduna Junction road, spanning 9 kilometres, and the 5.5-kilometre Zone 8–Crusher Road.
Additional projects commissioned during the visit included a 350-bed hostel facility for both male and female students at the Confluence University of Science and Technology, a demonstration farm, two newly constructed faculties within the university, and several primary health centres located across the state.
Speaking to the delegation, Governor Ododo expressed his commitment to enhancing the welfare of Kogi residents. “The projects executed demonstrate my desire to improve the well-being of the people of Kogi State,” he said. He added that the projects were strategically distributed across the state’s three senatorial districts as part of his campaign promises.
Governor Ododo also acknowledged the contributions of his predecessor, Yahaya Bello, stating, “I thank my predecessor for laying a solid foundation upon which I could consolidate the growth and development of the state.”
Following the commissioning ceremony, the Vice President and other dignitaries proceeded to the Government House for a private meeting with key stakeholders in the state. The visit culminated in a grand celebration at Muhammadu Buhari Square, marking the anniversary in style.
