Vice President Kashim Shettima has reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s dedication to improving Nigeria’s economic fortunes, despite the ongoing challenges facing the country.
Shettima made this disclosure during a one-day retreat for presidential aides and heads of units in his office, held on Saturday in Abuja.
The Vice President highlighted that the nation’s economy is on a growth trajectory, attributing this progress to President Tinubu’s policies and commitment to transforming the economy.
Shettima acknowledged the economic challenges but assured that the country had made significant strides, particularly with oil production reaching 1.8 million barrels per day.
He expressed confidence in the coming year, adding that the economy would experience substantial growth.
According to Peoples Gazette, Shettima also called on all presidential aides to collaborate more effectively and work diligently to support the President in fulfilling his mandate.
He further stressed the importance of teamwork and unity within the administration.
He said, “President Tinubu is determined to change the fortunes of the nation. We all want to bequeath to the younger generation a united and progressive country. Yes, the economy has and is experiencing challenges but we have turned the corner. As of now, we are producing 1.8 million barrels of oil per day. The economy is on an upward trajectory and I believe in the new year, the economy will grow in leaps and bounds.
“The country is greater than all of us. I urge you, let’s work as a team and as a family.’’
Senator Hassan Hadejia, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President (Office of the Vice-President), explained that the retreat was intended to foster synergy among the aides, ensuring a smooth execution of tasks in the Vice President’s office. He noted that the retreat would also focus on improving strategic communication, streamlining project funding, and enhancing collaboration with ministries, departments, and agencies.
