The Peoples Democratic Party has urged the Supreme Court of Nigeria to do justice to the appeal filed by its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, challenging the verdict of the Presidential Election Tribunal, which upheld the victory of President Bola Tinubu, who was the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the February 25 election.
PDP requested a post on its official x handle on Friday, following the Apex court’s release of the date to hear the petition filed by Atiku.
It would be recalled that the Supreme Court has picked Monday, October 23 to hear the appeal filed by the PDP and Atiku challenging the judgment of the PEPC, and also making some other requests before the court, praying that their discovery of Tinubu’s alleged forgery at the Chicago State University, be included in the judgement.
The party wrote: “The Supreme Court of Nigeria has announced Monday, October 23, 2023, as the date to hear the appeal filed by our great Party, the @OfficialPDPNig and our Presidential Candidate, @atiku in the February Election, against the judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC).
“We strongly believe that the court will do Justice to the appeal before them.”
Atiku filed a notice of plea before the apex court, alleging that President Tinubu submitted a forged document to the Independent National Electoral Commission to contest the February 25 presidential election.
The former Vice President predicated his plea because presenting forged documents by any candidate, especially by a candidate for the highest office in the land, is a very grave constitutional issue that must not be encouraged and is therefore seeking Tinubu’s disqualification.
