President Bola Tinubu has made sweeping changes to his cabinet, dismissing six ministers and nominating seven new candidates for ministerial positions.
The axed ministers include Prof. Tahir Mamman (Education), Uju Kennedy Ohanenye (Women Affairs), Mohammed Gwarzo (State for Housing), Jamila Ibrahim (Youth Development), Lola Ade-John (Tourism), and suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Betta Edu.
The new nominees, sent to the National Assembly for confirmation, include notable figures such as Bianca Ojukwu, widow of Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu, Nentawe Yilwatda, and Maigari Dingyadi.
Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, announced the changes after the Federal Executive Council meeting chaired by President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
In addition to the dismissals and nominations, ten ministers have been reassigned to new portfolios.
The cabinet reshuffle is seen as an effort by President Tinubu to enhance the effectiveness of his administration.
The changes are expected to bring fresh perspectives and expertise to key ministries, addressing Nigeria’s pressing challenges.
The National Assembly will review the nominations before confirming the new ministers.
