President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has praised the Nigerian Army’s professionalism and resilience, describing them as the “pride of the nation”.
At the 2024 Nigerian Army Celebration, Tinubu, represented by Defence Minister Abubakar Badare, commended the army’s history and dedication to protecting Nigeria.
The president reiterated his administration’s commitment to building a well-equipped and professional army, announcing approval for Group Life Assurance for fallen soldiers and the purchase of attack helicopters and combat equipment to enhance their efficiency.
Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taofeed Lagbaja, reaffirmed the army’s commitment to defending Nigeria’s territorial integrity, acknowledging the ultimate sacrifices made by soldiers and emphasizing the need for continuous training to counter evolving threats.
He said, As your Commander-In-Chief, my administration is committed to building a well-equjpped, and truly professional army that will remain the pride of the nation.
“We are committed to providing you with all that you need to enable you fulfil your constitutional responsibilities.
“To this end, I have approved the payment of Group Life Assurance for all members of the Nigerian Army who died in the line of duty.”
