President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the President of the African Development Bank, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, on receiving the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo Prize for Leadership.
Dr. Adesina, on Wednesday, joined esteemed past recipients like Nigeria’s Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, former South African President, Thabo Mbeki, and lawyer-educationist, Chief Afe Babalola.
President Tinubu lauded Dr Adesina for his visionary efforts to revolutionise agriculture in Africa and ensure food security, citing his impactful initiatives during his tenure as Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Recognising Dr Adesina’s unblemished reputation, integrity, and significant contributions to agricultural development, including his receipt of the World Food Prize in 2017, President Tinubu wished him continued success at the AfDB and strength in his service to Africa and humanity.
