President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is presently meeting with His Royal Majesty Omon’Oba N’Edo Uku’Akpolokpolo Ewuare II, Oba of Benin, in the State House in Abuja.
Although the agenda of the meeting is yet unknown, it is coming barely 48 hours after President Tinubu declared a state of emergency on food security in Nigeria.
The President had on Thursday, declared a state of emergency on food security in the country.
The directive was made known by the Special Adviser to the Presidential on Special Duties, Media and Communications Strategy, Dele Alake.
According to Alake, the President was aware of the rising cost of food and its effect on citizens, noting that the declaration of a state of emergency was in line with the Tinubu administration’s position, in ensuring that the most vulnerable Nigerians are supported through palliative measures, to give succour to them.
However, the directive also includes all matters about food and availability and affordability, as essential livelihood items, within the purview of the National Security Council.
