The President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has named the former Minister of Special Duties, Senator George Akume, as the new Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
According to Leadership, Tinubu decided on the choice of Akume, a long time ally, for the office to pacify the North Central zone ahead of the race for leadership of the National Assembly.
It was also gathered that the President is expected to formally announce the appointment of Akume alongside other personal aides between Friday and Monday next week.
Tinubu had earlier appointed Victor Adekunke Adeleke as his State Chief of Protocol and Nosa Asemota as the official photographer to the Presidency.
The incumbent Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has also been confirmed to be appointed as the Chief of Staff.
The First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, in a tweet on Thursday night, had congratulated the Speaker on his new well-deserved appointment as Chief of Staff.
Senator George Akume is a two-term Governor Of Benue State and three-term Senator representing Benue North West.
He served as Minister Special duties under the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) regime.
