President Bola Tinubu has extended his heartfelt condolences to the Atanda family over the passing of their patriarch, Chief Oluremi Ademola Atanda, who was the former Chairman of the Old Oyo State Civil Service Commission.
Chief Atanda, the Eketa of Iwoland in Osun State, was a significant figure in education and public service. He founded the Atanda Continuing Education Centre, which played a crucial role in preparing many students for university education in the South-west of Nigeria during the 1970s and 1980s.
In addition to his educational contributions, Chief Atanda was an active participant in national politics. He was a member of the 1978 Constituent Assembly and the 1994-1995 Political Reforms Conference, where he worked on critical reforms for the nation.
President Tinubu mourned the loss of this renowned educationist and administrator, recognizing his immense contributions to the development of Old Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.
In his message of sympathy, President Tinubu also commiserated with the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, and the people of Iwoland, praying for the repose of Chief Atanda’s soul and honoring his legacy as an elder statesman.
