Nigeria’s president-elect, Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress has reacted to his victory in the hotly-contested presidential election.
Premium Politics reported that the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, announced Tinubu as the winner at the International Collation Centre in Abuja during the early hours of Wednesday.
Reacting in his first comment after being announced as the next president, Tinubu vowed to serve Nigerians and collaborate with all.
“Let’s collaborate and work together. I promise to work with you,” Tinubu said while giving his acceptance speech in Abuja.
This publication reported that the 70-year-old polled 8,794,726 votes to win the 2023 presidential election ahead of his counterparts in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, and the third force, Labour Party’s Peter Obi who defeated Tinubu in his stronghold, Lagos.
Although the three-horse race ended with the three candidates winning 12 states apiece, Atilu and Obi fell behind Tinubu by polling 6,984,520 and 6,101,533 votes to come second and third, respectively.
