President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday received Letters of Credence from ambassadors of France, China, and Denmark at the State House, emphasizing the need for mutual economic benefits.
The President stressed the importance of translating cordial relations with these nations into tangible benefits for Nigerians, particularly in education, health, and infrastructure.
Tinubu is scheduled to pay a state visit to France, where he aims to solidify relations with President Emmanuel Macron, according to Channels TV.
He acknowledged Macron’s friendship and sought French support for Nigeria’s ongoing reforms.
“Macron has been a good friend over many years, and I am looking forward to the State Visit in Paris to solidify our relationship, and ensure that our citizens also share in the gains of diplomacy between both countries,” Tinubu was quoted to have said in the statement by his spokesperson, Bayo Onaguga.
“I am happy you are not a stranger in Africa from your background. Nigeria is the biggest country on the continent, and the headquarters of ECOWAS is based here. We have an open door policy, and we want your investors to take advantage of it.
“Our collaboration is essential for Africa, ECOWAS and Nigeria. You can always get in touch through Ministry of Foreign Affairs, or the Chief of Staff to the President,’’ the President added
French Ambassador Marc Fonbaustier praised Nigeria’s cultural diversity and warmth, pledging to enhance bilateral partnership for shared economic prosperity.
In a separate meeting, Tinubu commended Chinese President Xi Jinping for hosting him in Beijing and urged Chinese Ambassador Yu Dunhai to implement signed agreements on trade and economic progress.
China and Nigeria have enjoyed a long-standing relationship, with China being one of Nigeria’s key trading partners. The Chinese Ambassador acknowledged the success of Tinubu’s visit and the elevation of bilateral relations.
Tinubu also welcomed Danish Ambassador Jens Ole Bach Hansen, expressing interest in collaboration on education, healthcare, and energy. Denmark has evolved a new strategy to improve relations with Africa, with Nigeria playing a central role.
These diplomatic efforts aim to leverage international partnerships for Nigeria’s economic growth and development.
