The Tiv Youth Council Worldwide has criticized former Benue State governor, Sen. Gabriel Suswam, for his continuous attacks on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government.
On April 29, 2024, Suswam stated in an interview on Channels TV that the Tinubu administration lacks the capacity to change Nigeria’s economic fortunes. He criticized the economic policies of the government, including the removal of subsidy, currency floatation, increased interest rates, and the hike in electricity tariffs.
In response, the President of the Tiv Youth Council Worldwide, Chief Michael Msuaan, MON, released a statement in Abuja, asserting that Suswam lacks the moral authority to criticize President Tinubu. The group pointed out Suswam’s poor performance as governor of Benue State, stating that his tenure witnessed little to no development.
Msuaan mentioned Suswam’s defeat in the senatorial election and in court, suggesting that his criticism stems from frustration. He also criticized Suswam’s bid for the national chairmanship of the PDP, labeling it as a manifestation of his frustration.
Msuaan defended President Tinubu, describing him as a skilled administrator capable of making tough decisions for the country’s growth and development. He concluded by stating that critics like Suswam would soon be irrelevant.
