The petition of Senator Aishatu Binani, the All Progressives Congress candidate for the governorship of Adamawa State, was dismissed by the Election Petitions Tribunal on Saturday.
She challenged the victory of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, claiming that the election violated the Electoral Act.
The tribunal, led by T. O. Uloho, affirmed Fintiri’s win and rejected Binani’s petition. Uloho said that the petitioners failed to prove their allegations with convincing evidence. He added that the court was not an investigator and that the petitioners’ witnesses relied on hearsay.
Fintiri was declared the winner of the governorship election by INEC on April 18, 2023, after a supplementary election was conducted to finish the inconclusive process.
