Bashir Ahmad, a former media aide to the immediate former President Muhammadu Buhari, has reacted to the alleged plans by the Candidates of the opposition parties, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Engr Rabiu Kwankwanso of the New Nigeria People’s Party, to form a merger, in challenging President Bola Tinubu, in case of a rerun of the 2023 election, after the outcome of the tribunal judgement.
Ahmad made this disclosure via his X handle (formerly Twitter) on Monday, while reacting to the news of an alleged alliance between the top politicians.
Premium Politics had reported that there a speculation that the top three politicians are scheming to ally, in case the outcome of the 2023 Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, calls for a rerun of the February 25, election.
Reports revealed that the plan of their alliance started with the recent meeting between Atiku and Kwankwanso in Abuja, where the duo allegedly planned to call Obi into the alliance, by providing a formidable opposition, to wrestle power from the APC, if there is a rerun, or merge ahead of the 2027, Presidential election.
Reacting to the development through his X handle, Ahmad explained that their merger will amount to nothing, noting that they were together in 2019 when the APC won the election.
“Weren’t they together in 2019 when our great party hammered them blue and black?” Ahmad. queried.
