Former United States president Donald Trump, following his conviction for falsifying business records to cover up a hush-money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels, has announced his intention to appeal the court’s verdict.
In a press conference at Trump Tower, he labeled the decision as a “scam.”
The press conference, expected to address the specifics of his appeal, quickly spiraled into a 35-minute tirade of insults and unfounded claims. Trump abruptly ended the speech without taking any questions from reporters.
Trump targeted Judge Juan Merchan, who presided over the trial, calling him a “tyrant” and accusing him of unfairly treating witnesses. “This man who looks like an angel, but he is really a devil,” Trump asserted during his remarks, which were broadcast live by all the major US television networks.
