The newly elected National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje, his wife, Hafsat, a new ministerial nominee, Mariya Bankure, and some other women believed to be in Ganduje’s camp, have been seen mocking a Kano State ministerial nominee, Mariam Shetty, whose name was replaced with another Kano nominee on the ministerial list.
Premium Politics had reported that Shetty, whose name was on the second list of the ministerial nominees, sent to the Senate by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, got the shock of her life when she got to the Senate for screening on Friday, to learn that her name had been replaced with another nominee from Kano State.
President Tinubu, who sent the second list, containing 19 nominees’ names, including that of Shetty’s, through his Chief of Staff, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, had earlier sent another letter to the red chamber, seeking the replacement of her name, before the Friday screening.
However, in a viral video that emerged online, some hours after the dramatic turn of events, Ganduje his wife, Hafsat, and the new ministerial nominee, Bunkure and other women were seen laughing at the mention of Shetty’s name.
Ganduje and Hafsat could be seen in the video, laughing with a new ministerial nominee, Mariya Bunkure, who replaced Shetty.
They could be seen asking “Who is Mariam Shetty” in the video.
The new APC national chairman, alongside his wife, Prof. Hafsat, and their guests, mocked the replaced Kano State ministerial nominee, when the new nominee, Dr. Mariya Bunkure, visits them in what seems to be a thank-you visit to Ganduje and his family.
Another woman whose face was not captured could be heard laughing while saying in the Hausa language that “the head has now fit the cap.”
“When we heard that they brought one Maryam, Maryam who?” while another voice replied “Shetty.”
However, Bunkure, Hafsat Ganduje (popularly referred to as Gwaggo) and Ganduje could all be seen laughing. “I said who is Shetty? We were confused, I said from where is she from? They said Kano,” the first speaker continued.
In the second video, Ganduje, who was responding could be heard saying “I want them to call out Gwaggo again.
“They have opened a new chapter of ignorance. We are thankful this one (referring to Bunkure) has joined the caucus.”
