A former Federal Commissioner of the Public Complaint Commission, Barr. Felix Alari, in anticipation of the September 21 governorship election in Edo state, has urged citizens to support the Peoples Democratic Party. He emphasized that the PDP “prioritizes the welfare of the state and its people.”
Alari, previously a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress criticized the ruling party, stating its federal performance has been an “abysmal failure and underwhelming.” He asserted that nine years of APC governance at the federal level has impoverished Nigerians.
During an interview with journalists on Thursday, Alari explained his departure from the APC, citing the “disorganized state of the party in Edo state” and the “unprecedented hardship in the land.” He highlighted that the PDP and its candidate, Asue Ighodalo, present a hopeful alternative for the state’s future.
He praised the PDP’s track record of competent governance and its commitment to the well-being of Edo state, advocating for a unified effort to build a brighter future. Alari contended that the upcoming election is an opportunity to vote for the PDP and usher in a new era of prosperity and progress, arguing that “Edo state cannot be a fertile ground for APC’s failed governance.”
Alari stated, “The All Progressives Congress has had its chance at the federal level, and its performance has been, to say the least, an abysmal failure and underwhelming.
“It is clear to all and sundry that 9 years of APC government in Nigeria at the federal level has pauperized Nigerians. Today many Nigerians look back at the 16 years of PDP at the Federal level with great nostalgia and a strong wish that we could go back to those years.
“As Edo people go to the polls we cannot afford to replicate the same disappointing outcome of the APC led government at the federal level by voting APC into power in the forthcoming election.
“The choice must be made of that party that prioritizes the welfare of our great state and its people. The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) offers a beacon of hope in these trying times. With a track record of competent governance and a commitment to the well-being of Edo state, the PDP is the clear choice for our state’s future.
“Edo state cannot be a fertile ground for APC to practice, market, and perpetuate its monumental failure as a party and government.
“Let us come together to build a brighter future for ourselves, our children, and generations yet unborn. On September 21st, let us vote PDP and usher in a new era of prosperity, progress, and happiness for Edo state,” Alari said.
