A Chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Aliyu Audu has explained why President Bola Tinubu’s administration should create six more states from all the geo-political zones.
Audu, a member of the Media Strategy Subcommittee of the APC Presidential Transition Council, made this disclosure on Wednesday while featuring on a Channels Television programme.
The party chieftain pointed out that if more states are created, the growing rural-urban migration would be minimized.
Audu submitted that some states like Lagos are overwhelmed because of the mass exodus of Nigerians to the city for greener pastures.
He said, “If we can take a bit of this pressure off Lagos by creating six other states in six geopolitical zones, that will reduce rural-urban migration, prevents people from leaving the North, the East and the West to Lagos.
“It balances up the states and to do this, you need more people, you need more hands, we need more processes.”
