The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has approved the payment of the new national minimum wage of N70,000 for staff of the FCT Administration.
This development was announced on Tuesday in Abuja by the Acting Head of the Civil Service of the FCT, Mrs. Grace Adayilo, through a statement issued by her Press Secretary, Ewhenji Anthony Odey.
According to the statement, the minister has also approved the payment of three months’ arrears to all staff, with implementation beginning in November 2024.
The Head of Service highlighted that this decision underscores the minister’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of FCT Administration staff.
“This gesture will further spur the entire staff of the Administration to support the Minister to continue to deliver on the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” the statement quoted Mrs. Adayilo as saying.
She also expressed her gratitude to the minister for his prompt approvals of staff allowances and claims, describing it as a testament to his dedication to improving the working conditions of the workforce.
The move has been widely lauded as a significant step in ensuring the financial well-being of FCT Administration staff while fostering a more motivated and productive workforce.
