Youths under the auspices of the ruling All Progressives Congress, have been divided, over the call for the appointment of the Minister of Youth.
The youth leaders of the APC in 30 states across the country, had in a letter dated 21st August, titled, “Clarion call for a purposeful minister of youth that is fit for the job,” the youth leaders of the party, snubbed Israel to back Seyi.
The youth leaders explained that Seyi deserves to be Nigeria’s Minister of Youth for “painstakingly strengthening the youth wing of the party.”
The youth leaders said that Seyi, during the elections, “travelled at odd hours to numerous states across federation canvassing support for the success of the Tinubu-led administration.”
They maintained that the nomination of Seyi would be favourable, noting that he understands the importance of a viable ministry of youths and will ease the agitations of the youth across the 36 states of the federation.
The development came, following the redeployment of Abubakar Momoh from the Youth Ministry to the Ministry of Niger Delta Development, recently.
Premium Politics reported that Momoh was redeployed following the outcry by Nigerians, and Niger Delta indigenes, the alleged scrapping of the Niger Delta Ministry, as well as the complaints from the youths who pointed out that he is not a youth.
However, while a faction of the APC youth leaders declared their support for Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, for the position of Minister of Youth, another bloc of the ruling party’s youth snubbed its National Youth Leader Dayo Israel, in the quest for who to fill the vacant position.
