The presidential aspirant of the Labor Party, Peter Obi, on Saturday threw jabs at his counterparts in other parties, describing them as too old.
The former Anambra state governor said this during his address at the LP presidential campaign rally at the Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos.
He said, the 2023 election would be the first time in the history of Nigeria where the party chairman, presidential candidate and vice-presidential candidate would be born after Nigeria had her independence in 1960.
The LP chairman, Julius Abure, is 52 years old; Peter Obi is 61 years old and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, is 53 years old.
Addressing the mammoth crowd in Lagos, Obi said, “I’m begging the youths, support what we are doing. This is the first time in Nigeria that the party chairman, presidential candidate and vice presidential candidate would be people born after independence.
“When you check it, APC chairman is 75 years, PDP chairman is 72 years, he was Shagari’s minister 40 years ago. Our chairman is 52 years, 20 years difference.
“If you check the age of three of us (referring to LP chairman, Julius Abure, Peter Obi, Datti Baba-Ahmed), the average age is 55, if you check the other one of PDP, it’s over 70, the other one we don’t know their age.”
