A former presidential spokesperson, Dr. Doyin Okupe, has denied reports alleging that he stated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration would come to an end if the North fielded former President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2027 election.
In a statement released on Monday, Okupe described the report, which appeared in an online media outlet, as a misrepresentation of his words. He criticized the publication for distorting his views and spreading false information.
Okupe said he remained “a committed supporter of President Tinubu’s administration and his vision to address the current challenges facing Nigeria, many of which were inherited from previous governments.”
Okupe reiterated his support for Tinubu, affirming his commitment to the administration’s efforts in addressing Nigeria’s current challenges, many of which, he noted, were inherited from previous governments, according to Daily Trust.
He said the report was a clear “Manipulation, designed to misinform the public and sow discord.”
