Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has attributed his emergence as governor to divine providence rather than human effort, following the passing of his predecessor, Rotimi Akeredolu.
Speaking at the Inauguration Church Thanksgiving Service held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Akure, Aiyedatiwa expressed profound gratitude to God for His guidance and favor as he prepares to officially assume office as the 7th elected governor of Ondo State.
Acknowledging God’s role in shaping his political journey, Aiyedatiwa quoted Psalm 124:1, saying, “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, what would our Israel be saying this day?”
He also extended appreciation to the people of Ondo State for their unwavering support, particularly during the last gubernatorial and local government elections.
“As we prepare to take the oath of office tomorrow, we pledge to serve with integrity, transparency, and accountability. We shall work tirelessly to create opportunities, foster growth, and ensure our state remains a beacon of hope and prosperity,” he stated.
Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the Seven-Point Developmental Agenda (OUR EASE), which focuses on socioeconomic development in education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, commerce, and industry.
He further assured residents of his dedication to maintaining Ondo State as one of the safest and most peaceful states in Nigeria.
Emphasizing the importance of unity and reconciliation, the governor urged all citizens to work together in building a better future for the state.
Recognizing the significant role of the church in societal development, Aiyedatiwa pledged to strengthen partnerships that promote education, healthcare, and economic empowerment.
Earlier in his sermon, Pastor Elijah Olujimi Olubade, the Regional Pastor of Zone 22, underscored that victories are achieved not by human effort but by God’s grace.
“Just as Israel acknowledged God’s hand in their success, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is appreciating God for His favor in leading Ondo State,” he said.
The cleric also urged leaders to govern with humility and gratitude, recognizing their positions as divine assignments.
